106.2FM and 107FM in Herefordshire and Monmouthshire
Influential drummer BILL BRUFORD talks to presenter Jeff Collins about the hit KING CRIMSON album Discipline.
Bill Bruford started his career with Yes before leaving to join Robert Fripp in King Crimson in 1972. He also frequently played as the second drummer on tour with Genesis in the 70’s and 80’s.
After a seven year break, King Crimson reformed in 1981 with a new sound, partly inspired by two new American recruits: Bassist Tony Levin, who’d played with John Lennon and Peter Gabriel and singer/guitarist Adrian Belew, who worked with David Bowie, Frank Zappa and the Talking Heads.
The resulting album Discipline, from 1982, is regarded as one of progressive rock’s finest moments.
Tune in from 6pm to hear Bill Bruford talk to the Rock Show about how the reformed group got together and the writing and recording of their Classic album.
Jeff will also be speaking to former Styx singer Dennis De Young from his home in Chicago. Dennis will talk about his favourite Styx tunes, such as Babe and Lady. He also explain the reasons behind his break with America’s best-selling rock band in 1999.
The Rock Show will also feature two Styx’s classics played on Dennis’ recent solo tour.
Plus the Rock Show will feature two new tracks from the new ASIA album --which is due for release in April. Hear them here first.
The featured New/Unsigned band are Dead Against The Rest - A hotly tipped young rock band from South Wales.
All that plus three hours of the best classic rock tunes around.
Jeff’s previous guests on the Rock Show have included Black Sabbath drummer Vinny Appice, Fish, Paul Carrack, Stuart Cable, Paul Rodgers, Richie Edwards from The Darkness, Marillion’s Mark Kelly, ELP’s Keith Emerson, Whitesnake’s Neil Murray and Geoff Downes of Yes/Asia.
The Rock Show on Sunshine Radio: 106.2 fm across Herefordshire and 107fm across Monmouthshire (107.8fm in Abergavenny).
Jeff Collins is also the author of the best selling ROCK LEGENDS AT ROCKFIELD, written about the iconic rock acts who have recorded at Rockfield and Monnow Valley studios in Monmouthshire.
Jeff has just finished his latest book about former Stereophonic’s drummer Stuart Cable, which is due out in September 2008.
